Careology is ranked the highest scoring patient-facing cancer app in a systematic independent review published in the International Journal of Medical Informatics. (1)
Careology welcomes the first independent white paper reviewing over +400 cancer related solutions. The report focuses on the need for patient empowerment, autonomy and enabling patients to be ‘partners in their care’, ‘consequently reducing the burden on health services’.
Patient-facing cancer apps which can record patient reported outcomes were chosen and ranked depending on their purpose, functionality, quality, and ability to integrate with electronic health records. After a thorough and methodical review - Careology was ranked the highest.
Responding to the paper published in the International Journal of Medical Informatics, Paul Landau, CEO, Careology said:
“I’m personally very proud to see that Careology was the top scoring patient-facing app when considering functionality and quality. At Careology we’re committed to the highest standards of clinical efficacy, and our solution helps cancer care teams be more efficient and productive. On an ongoing basis, we work closely with both patients and our partner’s clinical teams to help improve clinical management and make it easier for patients to manage their condition”
Careology takes great pride in designing a user-centred experience and delivering tools that support all the stakeholders in the cancer pathway. The findings from the paper reinforce the feedback Careology received from their partners and their patients, which reinforces why Careology is selected as the market-leading digital cancer care solution.
It is important to note that the journal references that the ‘technologies reviewed were not used in conjunction with a cancer care team and were only available as a standalone app for people to download and use’. Careology also offers an equally user-friendly ‘virtual ward’ that the authors did not have access to. The Careology Professional platform enables patients to share information with clinical teams, allowing symptom tracking and remote monitoring whilst driving greater operational efficiencies through triaging and building capacity.
The findings from this paper demonstrate the transformative work happening in the cancer care space today. Focus must remain on the usability and experience for both patients and care teams alike in order for widespread adoption to take place.
That’s why Careology’s mission is to connect people living and dealing with cancer and improve their overall cancer care experience. Studies such as this are welcomed to continue to prove how digital cancer care solutions like Careology are transforming how we all live and deal with cancer.

About Careology
Careology is building the world’s leading digital cancer care platform. By equipping and seamlessly connecting patients, caregivers and healthcare teams in a complex pathway, our mission is to use technology to transform traditional cancer care and change everyone’s cancer story for the better. Today the platform allows patients to manage and navigate all aspects of treatment from their device, while leveraging critical data on symptoms, medications, side effects and more, to deliver insight and analysis to clinical teams through a ‘virtual ward’. By increasing the potential for patients to self-serve, improving workflows, making 24/7 monitoring possible and putting a unique data set to work, we are helping to relieve pressure on health systems, while reducing costs, improving patient and clinician experience, and optimising health outcomes.
